About Bush & Co

Bush & Co’s case management services are renowned for expertise, reputation and quality. Made up of over 100 case managers across the UK we provide case management and rehabilitation services to children, young people and adults following Acquired Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, developmental delay and birth injury, limb loss/amputation and complex orthopaedic conditions following personal injury or instances of clinical negligence. We are also experienced and specialists in working with those with mental health conditions following major trauma and clients experiencing behaviour that is complex to manage.

When choosing Bush & Co, clients are expertly assessed and supported. Our Immediate Needs Assessments are the blueprint for a client’s rehabilitation, focusing on understanding circumstances, barriers and future needs. Following assessment clients are then supported with realistic goals, accessing services and rebuilding a fulfilling, safe life post-injury.

Working with our case managers means that you can be assured you will receive regular updates on progress during rehabilitation through our Rehab Update Reports, access to knowledge and expertise about the client’s injury and their circumstances, confidence that all clinical stakeholders are held to account and a single point of access to our additional services where a client needs vocational rehabilitation, behaviour support and/or care solutions such as the direct recruitment of support workers and nurses in the home through our CQC registered care service – Bush Care Solutions.

Our experience in case management has also seen us join forces with two of the largest charities in catastrophic injury – The Child Brain Injury Trust and the Spinal Injuries Association. Through our partnerships we have launched the Child Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service that supports children and families following Acquired Brain Injury and SIA Case Management, supporting children, young people and adults following Spinal Cord Injury. As well as providing a high quality case management service, our two charity partnerships help to provide a valuable long term funding source to the Child Brain Injury Trust and the Spinal Injuries Association.

Testimonials for Bush & Co

  • Gaining Trust

B, a child with Cerebral Palsy, lived within an extremely complex dynamic with a family who were also nervous about the input of health professionals due to a previous bad experience of case management. The case manager worked extensively with the legal team, deputy, support work, client and family to build rapport and gain trust. to stabilize the client and family, housing needs were identified, an appropriate support package implemented that respected family relationships and additional family support to manage a recent crisis was led by Angela.
  • Early Intervention

Client (45yr female) involved in a RTC suffered skull fracture, haematoma in the brain and fractures to cervical vertebra, right side clavicle, chest and soft tissue injuries in both lower limbs. Client had red flag clinical symptoms which warranted an early review from specialists in order to aim for a full early recovery. Prompt liaison with GP resulted in bringing forward the review and the client benefited with an early spinal surgery for non-union of cervical vertebrae. Client was supported with social rehabilitation through a cleaner, taxi service and dog walker which contributed to her motivation towards an early recovery following the spinal surgery. The client managed to return to work on reduced hours with home working available. She was able to drive again, her pain was reduced to 4/10 on VAS and she was supported with relocation plans in geographical relocation to be with her close friends and maintain her social network.
  • Cultural Considerations

Client (11 year old Muslim boy) suffered a brain injury at birth. His challenges were in some way typical to those experienced by many children with ABI however this case involved additional expectations aligned to his heritage and culture. was just one aspect for the case manager to support. Being the only boy in a Muslim family brings cultural responsibilities around growing up into a man who can deliver teachings, learn prayers, fulfil religious family duties and be a figure in the community. The parents struggled, the home was dark and cluttered with an oppressive atmosphere; a manifestation of how the client's mum was feeling. The parent's mental health and 'grief' became a key focus in order to support the client. At school the client was independent but at home he lacked that independence around simple tasks. There were challenges with the transition to secondary education, speech and accommodation. The case manager built an amazing rapport with the family and client with appropriate schooling, a new and safe home and social activities were put in place with ongoing grief support for the parents to cope with a life they hadn't imagined.
